JOEY CANNAN · FOUNDER OF THE LEADERSHIP DESK

The work of becoming someone people can trust.

The Leadership Desk is founded by Joey Cannan for leaders who believe that the way they lead changes people’s lives and work.

Joey Cannan, founder of The Leadership Desk

FOUNDER OF THE LEADERSHIP DESK AND LEADERSHIP AUTHOR

Leadership is not a performance. It is a practice of responsibility.

Joey created The Leadership Desk as a place for leaders to prepare for the moments that matter—not to outsource their judgment, but to bring more of it to the room.

His point of view begins with a simple conviction: people are affected by the choices their leaders make. That is true in the hard conversation, the decision nobody wants to own, the feedback that changes someone’s confidence, and the ordinary follow-through that tells people whether they can rely on you.

The work is not about appearing more impressive. It is about becoming more trustworthy: telling the truth with care, taking responsibility without defensiveness, helping people grow without creating dependence, and carrying influence with humility.

A PRACTITIONER’S PERSPECTIVE

The human side of responsibility.

Joey’s perspective has been shaped across many levels of work—from early jobs and entrepreneurship to operational leadership and executive responsibility. It is grounded in the conviction that leadership is never only about the decision itself. It is also about what the decision does to the people carrying it.

He writes as both a student and a practitioner of leadership: for executives, business owners, emerging leaders, and anyone entrusted with meaningful responsibility for people. His work returns to character, judgment, courage, growth, and the lasting effect a leader has on the people around them.

Who are you becoming while you lead?

THE POINT OF VIEW

What this work is built on.

01

Humanity

People are not problems to manage. They are people to understand, develop, and treat with dignity—especially when the pressure is on.

02

Preparation

Important moments deserve more than an improvised response. Thoughtful preparation creates room for clarity, courage, and care.

03

Judgment

AI can broaden reflection and help leaders prepare. It cannot carry the responsibility of the choice. That always remains human.

04

Stewardship

Trust is not claimed by title. It is earned in the small, repeated actions that show people their work and well-being matter.
